EDP delegation visits Inner Mongolia for innovative renewable energy research

2025-12-08

From November 26 to 27, Ms. Vera Pinto Pereira, an Executive Board Member of EDP, led a delegation to the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region to research the advances in innovative renewable energy technologies. The visit focused on the integrated “source-grid-load-storage” technology system and the construction of large-scale clean energy bases in desert, gobi, and arid regions, aiming to enhance practical cooperation and technological exchange between CTG and EDP in the field of clean energy.

At the CTG Modern Energy Innovation Demonstration Park in Ulanqab City, the delegation toured the exhibition center for a comprehensive overview of the world’s largest “source-grid-load-storage” demonstration project. Discussions centered on the project’s key technological breakthroughs and its exemplary role in building a new power system. Later, at the “source-grid-load-storage” integration R&D test base, the delegation visited the energy management center, the energy storage testing laboratory, and indoor energy storage facilities, holding in-depth exchanges with CTG Science and Technology Research Institute on the latest energy storage technologies and their economic feasibility. The delegation spoke highly of CTG’s systematic innovations in integrated “source-grid-load-storage” technology and left messages including: “Incredible journey,” “Envisioning the future,” “Energy transition in the making,” and “Great prospects for a better future.”

At the site of the Kubuqi Desert Ordos Central-Northern New Energy Base, the delegation ascended a viewing tower to observe the construction and operational practices of the large-scale clean energy base. The vast photovoltaic arrays stretching across the desert sketch a grand vision for green energy, drawing high praise. At the control center of Phase I of the CTG large-scale base pilot project, the CTG Onshore Renewable Energy Headquarters introduced integrated control technologies for wind, solar, thermal, and energy storage, intelligent operation and maintenance platforms, and the integrated development model of “new energy + ecological governance,” showcasing the efficiency and intelligence of modern energy systems. The EDP delegation was impressed by the project's scale and innovation, regarding it as a valuable reference for global green transition goals, while the visit also deepened mutual understanding and laid a foundation for expanded cooperation.
